Our Explorer - Get Your Hands On Some Local Wisdom

OurExplorer is a new-ish travel site, based in Australia, that aims to make it easier for people to connect with local tour guides when traveling. It’s a different approach to the many other sites that aggregate user-generated content to provide traveler’s tips, but if you’ve ever been hounded by people claiming to be tour guides while traveling abroad then you’ll understand why a site that makes finding trusted local tour guides easy is so valuable.

I managed to catch up with founder David Cunningham to have a chat about how the site’s been going since it launched 6 months ago and what his future plans are. Enjoy.

泰国结束示威

“民盟宣布将于3号同时结束在总理府、曼谷素万那普国际机场和廊曼机场的集会示威活动。民盟决定结束所有的示威活动，这对因被民盟占领而被迫关闭了一周多的素万那普国际机场和廊曼机场来说是个好消息。

这场自今年5月起爆发的政府与反政府派别间的政治纷争目前已经暂时告一段落，但持续了半年的纷争极大地影响了泰国旅游服务业、出口业和外资引进等。据法新社援引泰国工业部门的数据，民盟近来升级的示威活动导致泰国旅游业每天损失700万美元，进出口贸易业每天的损失则高达8500万美元。政局的动荡还“吓走”了不少海外投资者。

有关部门预计，如果泰国国内的局势持续动荡，明年到泰国旅游的海外游客数量将可能从今年的1350万人次锐减到600万人次，这将直接导致约100万泰国旅游业从业者失业，泰国经济恐将在明年出现大幅下滑。 ”

旅游业不是一个独立的行业，它可以带动酒店、娱乐、交通、购物等一系列行业的发展，也受到气候、自然灾害、政治变动等很多因素的影响。政局的变动，对曾被评为世界第一旅游胜地的泰国，打击颇大。毕竟安全是旅游的前提和基础。希望天使之城能尽快恢复。

“再来一张”导游大叔

如果有时光机器，我想回到八百年前，看看吴哥当年的辉煌而不可一世。

可惜没有，所以只能从残留的遗迹和故事中想象。如果喜欢吴哥窟的风格，最好还是自己去。相机拍不出延伸的走道、护城河中如真的倒影、荒凉而雄伟的寺庙，也不知道它还能经受多少政局变动、战争、自然风化和无尽的游客。

吴哥窟归来，从炎夏回到寒冬，回想起来，遇到了很多有意思的人和事，最有意思的是我们的导游大叔--Sowanna Yun。中年，英语略带当地口音，不过听懂没问题。很敬业，前一天晚上到我们的旅馆，和我们确认了行程。第二天，从一上车，就开始介绍柬埔寨的基本情况。在吴哥寺的护城河边，和我们讲了吴哥的历史和形成，可惜几个王朝的变迁，我们只是一知半解，回来再好好补课。他从包里一张一张拿出4张不同柬埔寨和吴哥的地图，简直像个百宝箱。: )

不过印象最深的不是他的知识，而是他热情的"One More"和"This is a must-taken place"。He's the man behind the cameras! 十年的导游经验，他对好的拍照点的确很了解。四个女生，四个相机，"Number 1, Number 2, Number 3, Number 4"或者"Together"，常常会"One More"，Sowanna 会在同一个地方拍两张不同的景，横景和竖景、全景和特写。跟着他时不觉得，但是后两天我们自己逛（因为旺季，我们只订到他一天有空），就发现区别了。吴哥遗留的，整体来说是石头堆砌的宗教建筑群，所以很容易拍出雷同的照片而不知道哪是哪儿。就好像昆明的石林，游览时认为很有特色而拍下的照片，回头看看很可能是一堆又一堆石头。话说回来，十分佩服他的精力，下午我们去看日落时，累得只有一起拍照的精神，他拍了一张，停顿，看一下，在我们觉得OK时，他很认真地说，"One More"。所以，我们私下里称他"One-more" Uncle，“再来一张”大叔。: D

在请他作导游时，我们是有犹豫的，因为4个人正好一辆Tuk-Tuk车，加上导游，则需要一辆面包车，多了10美金的费用。幸好，后来大家都觉得很值。

营心

昨天去听了谷歌“冬日暖阳”企业营销论坛，在上海的一站。人很多，内容一般，主要推广谷歌的关键字广告。有意思的是听到了一个词——营心。复旦的一位教授，说是企业营销应该转向“营心”发展。确实，在信息如此发达的时代，重要的不是企业能做多眩的广告宣传，而是你提供的是客户真正需要的。

私人导游亦是如此。最优秀的导游，并不是知识最多、语言最好......而是最能满足旅游者需求的。就好像找老公/老婆，不需要最好的，而是要最合适的。

拿个例子来说吧。我要找缅甸的当地导游，询问他们在12月1日是否有空，得到以下两个回复。

回复一：欢迎来到缅甸，我在12月1日有空。请问你对什么感兴趣？寺庙、文化、民俗、购物......？你希望形程安排得紧凑还是悠闲一些？......

回复二：欢迎来到缅甸，我在12月1日有空。我是缅甸土生土长的导游，对这里十分熟悉，从事导游10年，经验丰富，一定可以给你带来愉快的旅程。......

你会选择哪一个？当然，两个都很好，但是我个人倾向于回复一的导游。因为他更关心“我”的旅行体验。自助游的升温是我们追求个性化的结果。为什么要请私人导游？就是希望有不一样的旅行体验，而不是跟团游的按部就班。所以，我当然会选择愿意了解“我”的喜好和期望的导游，能够实现我独一无二的缅甸之行，也就是所谓的“营心”吧。

第七届上海双年展快城快客

周末去看了第七届上海双年展，在人民广场的上海美术馆。我挺喜欢今年的主题，快城快客(Trans Local Motion)，门外的大幅宣传，感觉也很好。似乎顺应着世博会，上海现在很多的活动、展览都以“城市”为主题。不过艺术的东西，仁者见仁，智者见智，没有标准答案的。展现人民广场及其变迁的一些不错，但有些就比较牵强，或者说，需要太多“深层次”的分析理解。展览到11月初结束，周末人比较多。【OurExplorer上海导游】

国庆节，今年唯一一个真正意义的黄金周即将到来。对于喜欢旅游的人来说，第一反应就是“人”。全国人民都在放假，如何才能避开人群高峰，有个舒适的假期呢？我的建议是——错季旅游，错开常规的热门，你就有机会充分享受十一的黄金假期。

其一，错开旅游旺季目的地。旺季意味着一年中最好的风景，但不是唯一的风景。比如北京的金秋，晴朗舒适，探古（长城、故宫）访今（鸟巢、水立方）皆相宜。但是其它季节去北京，也可以看到不同的美景，比如冬天银装素裹的长城。因为旺季同时意味着拥挤、高价、紧张......所以可以选择去相对淡季的目的地，如海南岛。

其二，错开热门目的地的热门景点。对于去热门目的地度假而非旅游的人，可以选择闹中取静。比如，去江南天堂杭州，可以避开西湖、苏堤等人潮拥挤的景区，走走杨公堤，逛逛九溪十八涧，享受假期的悠闲。[杭州导游]

其三，去国外旅行。国庆节是中国的法定节日，所以去国外旅行可以避开部分人流。选择面较广，可以根据自己的喜好和经济能力。当然，也要考虑旺季因素。虽然国外不过十一黄金周，但比如欧洲一些当地节日，也会吸引很多游客。[德国导游]

其四，特殊情况。512四川地震，对当地的旅游业带来很大的打击，经过半年的恢复，九寨沟黄龙景区、四川当地旅行社都推出优惠措施，吸引人们去天府之国。泰国前一段时间的政变，造成部分机场停滞，对旅游业带来损失。亚洲航空和泰国航空最近都推出了飞往泰国的低价机票。当然，对于这些特殊目的地，实现还需做好充分的功课，安全旅行是快乐假期的首要因素。[泰国导游]

谷歌浏览器

谷歌推出了自己的浏览器测试版，对微软来说，是一个新的威胁。对于用户而言，稳定是关键。对于网页制作者，则又多了项任务。通过不同的浏览器阅读同一个页面，比如火狐和微软，是有区别的。即使同一个浏览器的不同版本，比如微软6和7，也有差异。所以网页制作者，要让自己的网页适合于不同的浏览器，还是要花一些功夫的。

试了下谷歌浏览器的测试版，作为用户，分享如下。

主页面：工具栏比微软简单，页面内容占很大比例，最近浏览页面用截屏显示，不同于微软7只显示链接和标题。在地址栏下面的是收藏夹（新标签页，tourist guides）。

谷歌搜索功能直接融在了地址栏里，比如键入"tour"，会列出"在[Google]搜寻[tour]的结果"和以前浏览的相关网址。融合了部分谷歌工具栏的功能。

历史纪录的显示，和收藏夹一样，直接放在主页面上，微软是左边的单独栏。

部分软件还不兼容。比如浏览OurExplorer主页，"This page required the Adobe Flash Player."

隐身浏览。左上角侦探样子的小人，挺有意思的。不是网站不知道你的浏览，只是不把这个记录在你的历史浏览，也不记录相关的网页信息。

旅行的需求

旅行的需求，并不是讨论我们为什么去旅行，无关乎马斯洛的需求理论。而是想说说，不同的人群，旅行中的实际需求会很不一样。

当你旅行时，你最需要什么？迅捷的交通工具、舒适的住宿、好吃的食物、志同道合的旅伴……当你整理背包时，你一定会带上什么？相机、瑞士军刀、化妆品、、靠枕（我看到过女孩子在汽车上，拿出一个充气靠枕，舒服地枕着睡）……

如果是跟团旅行，那你只有事先对旅行社或线路作部分的选择。众口难调，所以不得不在自己和别人的需求里折衷。如果是DIY旅行，选择面就比较广了。再或者，找一个私人导游，就可以按需定制你的行程了。一想到旅行者，第一反应往往是充满活力的年轻人，实际远不止于此。专业的私人导游，不是景点介绍者，而是针对不同人群，能够提供不同的服务，让人享受旅行的过程。

老年旅行者，要考虑体力和必要的疾病防备。

商务旅行者，要考虑他们有限的时间，提供实际有益的信息如哪里有无线网络。

奢华旅行者，要提供最优质的衣食住行选择，而不是一味“贵的就是好的”。

残疾旅行者，要注意更多细节，比如听力障碍者需要专业的手语导游。

奥运会圆满闭幕

看了昨天晚上的奥运会闭幕式，十分骄傲。鸟巢里观众、运动员、领导人、志愿者、演员们......真是有万民同乐的气氛，当然，远不止万人，“民”也不只是中国人。鸟巢外的观者更是不计其数。"One World, One Dream"，确实在北京奥运会上体现出来了。比赛16天不长，但作为将北京推向世界的广告，效果甚佳。与其说奥运会的闭幕式是个圆满结局，不如说是带来更多期待的美好开端。

奥运精神-四年磨一剑

奥运会赛程过半，我们为中国运动员们取得的成绩感到骄傲，也为所有运动员的奋斗而喝彩。获得奖牌固然重要，但四年磨一剑，拼搏到最后的精神更令观者鼓舞。四年的努力并不能保证成就，但没有努力，就不可能有收获。OurExplorer也将如此，从设想私人导游理念、到网站技术建设、到全面市场推广……我们仍在磨砺，也会继续努力，为获得属于我们的奖牌，一个让旅行者和私人导游都能受益的网络平台。

“北京欢迎你”

8月8日，北京奥运会终于拉开帷幕。张导的开幕式确实不错，电视转播中的北京城美丽壮观，尤其是29个烟火脚印从天安门一路“迈向”奥林匹克场馆，让人有去北京看看的冲动。主办2008年奥运会能为中国带来些什么？就谈谈我看到为北京旅游带来的机会。

16天奥运会期间的直接收益。奥运之前就有报道，“海外入境奥运游客预计45万，在北京消费超4亿美元”。在这些消费之中，旅游业会占很大比例。北京自身拥有很好的文化底蕴和旅游资源，能够充分抓住奥运会带来的契机。
Word of Mouth (口口相传)。要真正了解一个地方，就必须亲身去那个城市。因奥运来到北京、因奥运认识北京的人，他们的亲身经历和宣传，会比任何旅游宣传片都有说服力。现在是网络社会，Web2.0技术让口口相传有更多途径。说者是一个人，但听者的数量可以成百上千。
全世界的媒体报道。很难有盛会能像奥运会这样受到世界瞩目。从北京申办奥运会开始，就有很多的相关报道，之后关于场馆建设和筹备，到奥运会开幕式可以说达到了顶峰。中国有近8.5亿、全球近四十亿人观看电视实况转播。北京毋庸置疑地站在了世界的舞台上。在奥运的八月，网络、报纸、杂志、电视、广播......相关报道更是不计其数。无论是直接的旅游介绍，还是间接的城市报道，都会对旅游业起到推广作用。
讨论。媒体的报道是单向的，互动的讨论更为活跃。不可能也没必要让所有的人都说好，只要有讨论，就成为了热点和关注，已经是一种成功。就好像有些电影大片，说好的有人，说不好的也大有人在，但票房成绩却节节攀升。
软硬件设施的提高。空气质量、环境、交通、市容市貌、服务人员素质......
新的旅游机会。现在的北京，不只有古老的长城、故宫，近代的天安门、胡同，更有现代的鸟巢和水立方。很多旅行社都在忙着开发奥运旅游线路，奥林匹克公园给北京旅游注入了新的活力。
中国其他城市旅游。就国外游客来说，中国旅游，往往始于北京却不止于北京，也会借机游览其他的城市，如西安、上海。广义来说，奥运会不仅仅给北京带来了机会，更给中国旅游带来了影响。

Got it? Sure you do. So you run off the street, rush into a travel agency, read through its brochure, "This", and there you made your decision. Wow~ A 10 days trip to 8 european countries and on discount~ Cool~ But Wait! Look at that man opposite the street with his hands covering his stomach , he runs off the street, rushes into a drugstore, reads through the shelves,"This" and there he made his decision and bought an all-effect painkiller with a yellow label on the priceboard, which means he gets 15% discount. Does it look familiar? :P

Yes, no rush plz. Give yourself a second, to think what kind of travel you want. Is it to be a cultural experience, a seaside vacation or a package tour? Talk with the staff there, share your thoughts with him, and ask about the details of the routes. Well done! Now look at the man opposite the street again. He's doing good too. He finds the painkiller for stomachache, reads the instructions and make sure it fits his situation. Then he goes to the counter. But Wait! He puts it back after talking to the shop assistant and is leaving the store. What happened? What was he told? Let me tell you, the shop assistant said"Sir, you dont look good. I suggest you see the doc, as I don't think this medicine helps you indeed." Yeah~ Lucky him~ He went the doc's, and was given an exclusive prescription of the hospital which cannot be found in drugstores.

NOW, what do you think? Your agent does not give you a better choice, and you yourself, as I can tell, can hardly find an authorised person to point out a way for you as a doc can do for his patient.

We had a small discussion about guides license on http://www.hikingforums.net/. It's about whether hiking guides are with general license. I was wondering if hiking guides had general global-standard license, or regional license as tour guides.

Thanks to natchez's reply - "It would seem that a hiking guide of a specific area would only need to have thorough knowledge of the area he is employed in as a hiking guide, but on the other hand it doesn't make sense either.... "

My general impression has it that a tour guide relates to culture while hiking guides to nature. Culture is diversed but nature has something in common. E.g. A tour guide of New York is probably unable to guide in Beijing. But hiking in Chiangmai mountains might be similar with that in Shangri-la. Same about fishing guides, diving guides etc. etc.

There are currently heat discussions about "Tour guides sue over history test requirement" (Associated Press, updated 8:33 p.m. ET July 2, 2008)-
"PHILADELPHIA - Citing their free speech rights, three tour guides filed a lawsuit Wednesday challenging an ordinance that will require them to pass a history test and get a license before speaking to groups about the history of the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and other landmarks..."

Whichever licenses, they show only that one passed some exams and had certain knowledge. What really makes a good guide is his real skill and the client's feedback after the guided tour.

7月4日，大陆对台湾旅游首发团抵达，开始行程。最近，对大陆首次开放的团队台湾游，媒体的报道热闹非凡。从报名的火爆，到航班机票销售，从大陆旅行社的准备，到台湾当地旅社的接待，从大陆登记的兴奋，到台湾着陆的热烈欢迎......我认为目前的台湾游，政治和经济的意义多于旅行本身，何况个人自助游也尚未可行。但相信，将来会一步步开放的。台湾有一定的文化底蕴和自然风光。难怪有报道说，台湾可能成为欧洲游后的有一个热点。我们中国人的旅游热情和能力，实则不可小窥。

携程、CouchSurfing和OurExplorer

以前有谈过关于Lonely Planet等旅游指南书籍的看法。昨天陪一个来自CouchSurfing的美国人在上海半天，有些感触，就谈谈关于携程、CouchSurfing和OurExplorer。

携程
相信喜爱旅游的中国人90%都会知道。中国最大的旅游产品预定网站，机票、酒店、度假产品是它最大的三块产业。我本人常用的是机票预定，对他们的电话和网络服务还是比较满意的。据说携程的电话预定中心采用六西格玛方法，监督提高其服务人员的效率和质量，这点值得称赞。如果和航空公司或其他机票代理同样价格，我会首选携程。这牵扯到一个前提，价格优势。如果携程的价格比别处高，自然会倾向低价的。这也是现在“去哪儿”“酷讯”等旅游搜索引擎快速发展的原因。携程目前的主要收益来自于机票和酒店，度假产品占的份额较少，约10%。其度假产品实际是交通和住宿的合集，也是基于现有的资源。优势在于预定方便。但是，如果说道深入当地人文，还是靠旅行者自身。携程并没有介入帮助。

CouchSurfing (沙发旅游)
换沙发。免费住到当地人的家里，基于信任和交流。比较适合背包客，便宜，而且比较帮助了解当地的日常生活。但是真正能交流多少，要看你选择的房东。适合背包客的另一个原因，就是他们不需要太多的额外服务。只是一张床、一个沙发，能够过夜就好。多数的背包客旅行时会做足功课，去哪里、看什么、怎么走......我昨天遇见的Dao，他到上海才一天，已经带着上海地图，圈出要去的景点，本地的手机SIM卡，有交通卡和学生景点优惠卡，熟门熟路地坐地铁。他住过很多人家的“沙发”，多数人都是安全友善的，不过“我觉得很多时候，在交流上，我带给他们的多于他们给我的”。

As an entrepreneur, I have experienced my share of success. I sold my first business in 2007, made a lot of money and saw my story published in several books. And yet, even with all of that wealth, I felt empty and trapped in a void. I was fi nancially free, but I had a burning passion to continue self-employment and give back to others. The only question was: How?

After attending the 2007 EO Tokyo University and feeling inspired by the speakers, I took a “mini retirement.” I traveled for four months across

Europe and South America seeking out new ideas and problems that I could solve using my keen business sense. I was on a mission to make a difference in the world, and it made me feel alive. I found my calling while traveling. I had hired private tour guides in Bolivia,Peru, Cuba and Mexico to show me around. I was amazed at their passion, energy and level of intimate knowledge. I was equally shocked that these highly skilled people often earned less than US$100 per month! I wanted to help and support these guides because I respected them for trying to improve their lives.

I had the option of donating to these communities, but I knew I could do so much more. I resolved to help thousands of private tour guides, especially in underdeveloped countries, earn more money. It was an unyielding promise to help the less fortunate who were already trying to help themselves.
I followed my instincts, and a dream was born.

I quickly put the plan together. I would create a Web site that provides global exposure and user-generated ratings for tour guides around the world. This would lead to more business, which in turn meant more money for those guides struggling to feed their families. Tour guides could get paid directly in cash when they meet with the traveler, which saves them from doling out commission to local travel agents. We called this Web site OurExplorer.com.

Though I had the passion, there were a ton of problems early on. The major hurdle was deciding which location the Web site should be developed and designed from. I had zero experience in Web development and Internet marketing, so everything was new to me. We tried for nine months to develop the site out of China, but it failed. The communication was ineffective and the skills weren’t appropriate. After investing a lot of money into the fi rst site development, we had to throw it out. It was a personal challenge for me to come back from that failure. But, with the support and guidance of my Forum, I stayed focused. The fi nal Web site was officially developed in Sydney, Australia, in half the time and equal cost.

This entrepreneurial journey is different than any I’ve ever faced. A new industry has new challenges and obstacles to overcome. I had a dream to make a difference in people’s lives, but I didn’t have the knowledge to back it up. Luckily, I stuck with it, employed the right people and followed through on my goals. Now, when I want to relax, surf or play golf, I just think of those tour guides struggling to attract enough leads to support their families.

That’s my motivation to stay at the laptop and make my dream a reality. That’s my motivation to remain socially conscious.

Jean's Bangkok Trip with Tourist Guide Irene

泰国之行非常愉快，去了曼谷和清迈，虽然有些遗憾，来不及去普及岛享受沙滩和海浪，但曼谷的寺庙、水上集市、导游，清迈的骑象、漂流、周日市场，都让我乐不思蜀。

My tourist guide in Bangkok. She was very nice to show me around Bangkok for a whole day, combining a must-see and walking Bangkok tour. Her English is very good, with a bit Australian accent due to earlier student exchange. I didn't realize how helpful an English and Thai-speaking companion is until my next day experience to floating market. She has Chinese ancestry and has been to many cities of China, Hangzhou be her favorite. It has turned out a nice and fruitful day with her.

Proven: 1) I like this way of travel, with a tourist guide for part of the journey. I have the control to where I'm interested. Save my time and efforts to ask the way or look at maps. Save money with a local person together. Someone can bear and answer my various peculiar questions. 2) OurExplorer model can work. Some more thoughts as a client with Irene’s tour and private guiding-

Language. Since it’s private guiding rather than big tour group, clients talk more with the guide. So fluent language of the client’s preference is very important. More than simple sight introduction. I quite enjoyed the accompany with Irene. With no barrier of language, we chatted over all kinds of things on Thai culture, Bangkok history, the current protests, Thai girl's marriages etc. etc.

Mobile phone of the tour guides. Very important for meeting and identify among crowds.

Brief communication before departure. I told Irene that I’m interested in the famous temples and see more local stuff. So she arranged a tour combining must-see and walking in Bangkok, particularly for me.

The tour guide shall be familiar with the place. Know where to go and how to go. No repeating routes, or jammed in traffic for hours

The tour guide's caring attitude and willing to help. Attend to client’s questions and problems. Help sorting facilities like tickets booking, transport arrangements etc. Well, this is something of personal character rather than professional requirements. I was quite touched when Irene called the other day and asked if everything was going on well with my Bangkok trip.

Lonely Planet 东南亚

在旅游指南书籍中，比较喜欢lonely Planet，因为他们坚持自己的作者亲自实地考察、收集、写作。尤其在看了Tony Wheeler 的《当我们旅行：Lonely Planet的故事》，创始之初的艰辛、关于旅行的想法，很多都感觉赞同。对于喜欢参考旅游指南的人，lonely Planet是个不错的选择。只是个人而言，我还是更倾向于能直接和人接触，直观地了解最新信息。毕竟世界是在变化的，尤其是现今高速发展的时代。印刷出版物，尤其是旅游指南，其弊端之一就在于无法做到时效性，不像通过网络或私人导游获得的信息，更为及时、准确。而最新信息，对于旅行者才最有价值。因为在准备去泰国的旅行，所以参考了《Lonely Planet东南亚》中文版。尝试跟着书导游安排泰国形程。结果发现，在对泰国的整体了解和地理概念熟悉，确实很有帮助。但在很多具体事情上，还得上网搜索或问当地人。比如：

“www.transport.co.th 上面有英文的汽车路线和时间表”，可惜整个网站是泰语的，找不到英文的时刻表藏在哪里。同样火车时刻表查询网站www.railway.co.th也全是泰语。

泰国驻上海总领事馆，已经从中山东一路搬到了威海路，电话也不是原来的。

曼谷的Lamphu House住宿，最低房价已从150ThB升到370ThB。

这些并不是谁的错，只是作为书籍印刷物的局限罢了。

取个中文名，学说中国话，再唱上一段《吉祥三宝》，在埃及，中文导游是最热门的工作，但要当一个受欢迎的中文导游，除了会说中文，还要热情、认真，对埃及了若指掌，最重要的是，学会和中国人做朋友。

自从2001年埃及成为中国公民的旅行目的地，年复一年，大老远地飞去瞻仰金字塔的炎黄子孙就像滚雪球般越来越多。用埃及中文导游李强的话来说，2001年他每月只能带一两个中国团，到了2003年每个月能带5个团。

香火旺盛九华山

周末去了趟九华山，踏青春游，倒不是专为了进香去的。九华山是地藏菩萨的道场，香火很是旺盛。旺季才刚开始一个月，已经是人头攒动。我们上后山索道时，足足等了一个小时。有佛的地方故事就多，何况这有99座古寺庙散落的九华山。本想请个导游帮我们讲讲故事，关于韩国来的地藏王，关于各个肉身佛的由来，关于九华山的香火和法事......可惜，到山脚下问旅行社时，周六导游都出团了，私陪或是带队，全都忙着了，看来我们出手的太慢了。若是在出行前能约好就好了。随便逛逛，蹭蹭别人的讲解。九华山之行不算圆满，但也乐在其中。

P.S.充分领教了九华山的大雾天，能见度有时不足5米。一年有一百多天都是云雾缭绕，要见到九华清晰面貌，还真要有缘呢。

3月24日，17:00 (奥林匹亚当地时间上午11时)，北京奥运会圣火采集仪式在希腊古奥林匹克遗址举行。这一2008年的盛事也正式启动了。

看到一些有趣的报道。

奥林匹亚市的大街小巷布满了北京奥运会火炬接力的宣传条幅，条幅上有火炬图标和五环标志；配有“北京2008奥林匹克火炬接力”和“JOURNEYOFHARMOUNY”（和谐之旅）两种字样的标语。条幅同希腊国旗并肩而立，十分醒目。

随意走进当地一家餐馆，女店主热情地问候中国客人“你好”。落座以后，看到用英文和中文标注的两份菜谱。精明的店主绝不会错过这难得的赚钱机会，耐心地介绍各种菜肴的特点。
“中国人很多，只要很小一部分能来奥林匹亚参观，我们的生意都会好好多。”众多中国人云集奥林匹亚，让名叫卡利奥的一家纪念品商店的老板好好发了一笔“中国财”，他开玩笑地告诉记者，“北京奥运会期间，我希望能来北京旅游，就拿我这次赚的钱。”

奥运官网特约记者章子怡与众多报道团成员正式开始了雅典奥运之行。当地时间二十二日下午，他们前往帕纳辛纳克斯泛雅典体育场、卫城等雅典遗址，沿着奥运圣火传递的足迹，率先为中国亿万网民传递当地准备奥运圣火传递的情况。

导游生意好
五十出头的英文导游卡利奥，这几天也忙得不可开交。作为一名雅典卫城的职业导游，她为即将到来的奥运圣火采集仪式的举行而感到自豪。

也许是希腊雅典圣火要经过最著名的景点——卫城，这几天，前来采访的中国记者和中国游客，趁奥运圣火还没采集之前，来到卫城参观。卡利奥在介绍卫城的历史时，念念不忘地提起奥运圣火经过卫城的壮观场面。由于卡利奥能够不失时机地将卫城千年历史与今年奥运圣火采集的内容交融在一起，所以卡利奥一下子成为当地导游中的抢手人物。特别是早早来到雅典采访的中国记者，遇到了能说会道的卡利奥，如获至宝，争相采访，而卡利奥也来者不拒，面对话筒，侃侃而谈，一时间，她的生意好得很。看得出，奥运会已经让卡利奥尝到了甜头，她也有可能会改行吃起“奥运饭”。

尽力服务好
已经在希腊雅典学习和生活了6年的东北姑娘小隋，是我们这次中国晚报协会奥运圣火采火仪式采访的导游兼翻译。由于4年前雅典奥运会时她就已经是一名志愿者，再加上流利的英语和希腊语，所以，这次前来采访奥运圣火采集仪式的中国媒体争相请她担任导游兼翻译。她说，这次国内来采访的记者和观看圣火采集的观众特别多，而像她这样在希腊学习和生活的人又不多，所以她还是蛮珍惜这次机会，尽力为中国记者服务好。

Private Tour Guide vs. Private Fitness Trainer

堆积了一个冬天的脂肪。趁着天气转暖，决定燃烧掉它们，让自己有更好的体能去旅行。在家附近办了张健身卡，因为送两节私教课，上个周末就约了教练。所谓的私教，即私人健身教练，private fitness trainer。和我预约的姓姜，听口音像北方人。一边聊天，一边帮我做各种身体素质的测试。去之前我还有点紧张，脑海中浮现的场景，不是高中体育课时排队测身高体重，就是医院里常规体检时一个个房间和奇怪的仪器。万幸，最后是，在一间是房间里，跟着教练演示，在不同机器上测心肺、反应、力量......（那个测试反应能力的机器，完全就像游艺厅里“打地鼠”:D）。还很愉快地和教练聊了天。期待下一次器械上的训练指导。

其实想想，private fitness trainer和private tour guide有很多相同之处，面向个人，按需服务，考验专业性，在中国比较新。因为是面向个人而非大的团队，所以个人的质素和客户的反馈就尤为重要。在广告铺天盖地和信息泛滥的时代，直接体验者的反馈和介绍往往更有价值。当然，最终的判断在你自己。网络上不乏托儿和过分宣扬的人，但诚如eBay创始人Pierre Omidyar所言——
“EBay taught over 150 million people globally that they can trust a complete stranger”。

我先是跳上公车，然后又搭另一班公车折回去，一位年轻人见到我的怪行便来搭讪。“昨天也看到你在巷弄里画画，想瞧瞧你的大作。”他兴致盎然地翻着我的素描本，“明天我休息，开车载你四处逛逛吧。”用这种方式接近、再自我推荐当导游的人有很多。

“我不是导游，所以不用钱。只是想跟着您到处晃晃而已。车子是公司的，不过明天会空下来。”

正暗忖着不知是真是假，没想到果真一早九点就到饭店来接我——天还下着雨呢......

他名叫阿布都拉，二十六岁，职业是司机。其实我几乎已看遍加尔各答的主要名胜，但他知道我还没见过植物园的孟加拉榕(banyan)，马上就说：“一定要带你去看看。这可是印度的象征。”滂沱大雨中，傻头傻脑且燃起熊熊好奇心的我就这么坐着阿布都拉的车前往植物园。

没什么人的植物园里果然有棵孟加拉榕。这真是棵怪怪的树。从树枝垂下来的气根连到地面后，长成像榕树干一般，看起来有数十根树干，实际上却是出自同根。我素描时，那年轻人就一直待在身旁帮我撑伞遮雨，当天下午还载我到机场搭机往贝拿勒斯。临行前他说：“真是有趣的一天。”我说：“好歹让我出汽油钱吧。”但说什么也不肯接受。

别人的旅行

游记的风格引人而已。最近在读妹尾河童的《窥视印度》，一个挺有意思的日本舞台设计家的游记。摘抄一段共赏析——“世上最美丽的陵墓”

“入口正門聚集了不少導遊，我請一位看起來頗有哲人風範的老者幫我導覽。

不論哪裡的導遊都是一個樣兒：「從地面算起，那個大圓頂的高度有六十七公尺，庭院的深度是五百五十公尺，寬三百零五公尺……」脫口就是一大串數字。

「數字就不用了，請介紹點別的吧！」
聽我這麼說，對方一臉很困擾的樣子，但還是回應了要求，「那，到這兒來！」拉著我往正門迴廊左側去。

「從第二個拱門眺望泰姬瑪哈陵，如何？」
嗯，果然是風景照中看不到的角度，興奮極了。

「你的職業是啥呀？」對方這麼問我，便答道：「舞台美術設計」，只是對方好像不太瞭解的樣子。

當那導遊知道無須介紹數據之後，整個人便輕鬆起來，倒和我成了朋友。

我很想登上屋頂瞧瞧，可是，「差不多兩年前有位女性跳樓自殺，此後樓梯口的門就鎖起來了。」可惜啊！”

在接连几轮的雨雪天气中，好不容易有个大晴天，我请了位私人导游带我转转上海以前的法租界，不超过2车道的马路，高大的梧桐（虽然现在冬天，只有枝干挺立），老式的建筑，让人找不着方向的众多小路。还好Rita 带着，所以我就只关心路边的风景了。Rita告诉我说，原法租界涉及卢湾、徐汇两个区，主要道路是淮海中路，两边的小马路慢慢散开，纵横地构成一个个小方格子。现在上海较多保留地20世纪初私人住宅建筑，也多在法租界。我们走走逛逛，思南路、茂名南路、汾阳路、东平路、衡山路......

和Rita聊这些房子，知名的、无名的，有故事的、废弃的，要保留的、改造过的。孙中山故居现在作为展览馆保留得很不错。名人效应还是有讲究的。当然，他不是一般的名人。

聊旅游，因为她多是做涉外的私人导游，遇到过好些有意思的客人，有一位从事小学教师职业的，要求去看上海的少年宫，和小朋友们接触。不同的人，旅行目的真是无所不有。Rita自己也很喜欢旅行，可惜元旦和朋友去厦门的计划没有实现，不然，说不定我们会在另一个城市遇见呢！

聊私人导游，现在国内的人很少有请私人导游的习惯，还是国外的客人居多。也对，在国内，这是一种新潮的旅行方式。我一直觉得，继自助游、深度游之后，聘请私人导游的旅行模式会红火起来。接触当地人，所以比自助游更多有趣体验，更多收益。比旅行社的深度游更个性化、自主化。可惜的是，国内能直接找到好的私人导游的途径太少，找到Rita，也是通过国外的一个网站。如果是通过中介或旅行社介绍的业务，导游要返还一定比例的收益给介绍人，令我吃惊的是，Rita告诉我有些返还的比例高达50%! 所以知道www.ourexplorer.com时，Rita也很是期待。不过，她认为如何找到大量优质的导游，是个难题，因为现在导游相互间的沟通比较少。但我们有信心，万事开头难，只要有坚持和努力，就会有结果。

中国与国外的私人导游

在网上搜索了一下，我国和国外的私人导游还是有很大的差别的。

1.年龄 Age
国内的导游以年轻人为主，网上能找到公开信息的多是30岁以下的。国外，尤其是欧洲，在网上搜索private tour guide，常能看到头发花白的导游照片，介绍说已有20多年导游经验，感觉颇有说服力。这让我想到空姐和空嫂，几年前第一次听说空嫂时，小惊文化与国情的差异。其实，导游不是完全吃青春饭的，随着阅历的增加，往往能让客人有更多的收获。

2.带车导游 VS 城市行走 (Driver Guides VS Walking Tours)
作为辅助，国外很多私人导游会声明自己是带车导游，还会将自己的爱车照片贴上。这是很有益的，对旅游的人而言，司机兼导游，既表示他（她）对路况比较熟悉，又可以节省不用的两笔开销。另外，对于城市旅行，如纽约、罗马等，会看到walking tour的各种介绍，说白了，就是在城市里一通狂走。不过，有私人陪同，不用担心路线，有问题也能随时得到答案。了解一个城市，最实在的方法就是自己走路。我碰到过有老外，在上海，从静安寺走到南京西路，继而到南京东路，达外滩，然后折返。第二天很高兴地和我聊起这4个小时的行走，收获不少。还有一个，让出租车司机把他在浦东商圈放下，然后开始随便走，一个下午，把小陆家嘴逛了个差不多。我想，这和国门内外的旅游概念差异有关。国人旅游，传统上还是跟团、到点、听介绍、拍照、购物。其实这每一个，都是因人而异的。旅行的不同，不在于风景，而在于个人。现在，年轻的一代开始崇尚自助游、自驾游，开始追求个性化，www.ourexplorer.com 也正是为满足这种需求而生。

3. 自我推广 Self-promoting
不知是否因为我们推崇“沉默是金”“是金子总会发光的”，国内很少看到好的私人导游自我推荐。论坛、博客上有，但总觉得那应该是辅助。并且，也不能完整的说自己有些什么服务、导游经验和资质如何。就其原因：因为挂靠旅行社，不方便自我推广；认为跟着旅行社，导游就是一份工作...... 其实，大声说出自己丰富的经验和事业的热情，是很骄傲的。国外不少私人导游都有自己的网站，不需要很复杂，但是会给寻找私人导游的人更多信息和信心。

4. 信息公开 Openness of Information
国外，通过个人网站、导游协会或政府公开网站，往往可以直接找到私人导游的信息，进行询问交流。国内，则比较难找到公开而详细的信息。

不知从何开始，喜欢上了旅行。说不清何时开始，不再满足于旅行团按部就班的行程。于是，开始慢慢地走，并且努力走得更远。于是，“去走走”变成了唯一的目标，没缘由没目标没想法。这是最幸福的。不再想：我为什么要去这里？这里有什么好吃好玩好看的？有谁能和我一起去？为什么不区别的地方？那里会不会更好些？...... 旅行如同婚姻，一旦计划多了就像是柴米油盐，没有浪漫可言；计划少了变成无头苍蝇，忙着吃住行而无心风景。怎么样的才是正正好？这是......“不能说的秘密”。开玩笑的，其实只要自己觉得舒服就好，就像语文题，没有标准答案的。我们已经过了小学生忙着交答卷的日子了，不是么？有强迫症的人，大可研究透所有的攻略。懒人型的，无妨跟着感觉随意应变。只是，给自己留些遇见“意外的”机会。我的信念：1.不抱期望，就不会失望。旅游景点的信息那么多，说的好的像广告，说的差的弄得人诚惶诚恐。何必跟着这些走呢？在这个信息过盛的时代，可以大声地说“我不需要知道一切”。2.没有意外，就少些惊喜。旅行或多或少是要离开日常生活，如果每一步都是计划之中的，和每个工作日又有什么区别？（7:30 起床，刷牙、洗脸、化妆、吃饭、出门8:30 和脸熟的不熟的人在同一部公交车上，听电台、被迫听移动电视和报站9:30办公室生活开始，喝水、开机、打开MSN、查邮件12:00 吃饭13:00 继续办公室生活18:30 关机、回家19:00 和脸熟的不熟的人在同一部公交车上，听电台、被迫听移动电视和报站19:45 吃饭21:00 洗澡21:30 看报、看电视、看电脑、看书24:00 睡觉。）规律的日常生活是需要的，但既然一年有200来天都过这样的生活，偶尔除去的日子里，多一些随性岂不是锦上添花。

厦门老房之旅

趁着元旦，去厦门走了一圈，四个丫头，决定自己随便走走，不跟团。厦门是个海滨城市，有地图指路，有嘴巴问路，一切都很顺利。问题在于鼓浪屿。岛虽小，1.92平方公里，却有300多条大大小小的岔路，上岛的第一天，精神爽朗，雄心勃勃地打算自己探究，于是脚随心走，结果转了大半个下午，看到了许多欧式风格的老房子，只是不知其所以然，好多房屋都荒废了，硕大的庭院，参天古树，枝藤缠绕，窗残屋败，看着很可惜。想象当年新造起的时候，一定是风光无限。

其实从一下轮渡登岛开始，就有很多导游询问要不要陪同，去日光岩、菽庄花园、风琴博物馆......风景点的话，谁都能找到啊？路上到处都有指示牌。鼓浪屿所吸引我们的，是那些有故事的老房子，那些盛极一时、现在却荒废或作他用的房子。发生了什么？为什么荒废？曾经属于谁？现在又归属何方？

第二天早上，出发再游岛时，碰到了小桂导游，决定跟他走走。可能是因为他晒得黑黑瘦瘦、带些闽南口音的普通话、和见到我们问的是“要不要带你们逛逛鼓浪屿的老房子？”于是，我们请小桂作为我们的私人导游，陪着开始了鼓浪屿老房之旅。我们的目标，不要景点，只要有特色的老房。

我们经过了海天堂构的老建筑群，保存的较为完好，现在翻新做了展览馆。小桂指给我们看了原荷兰领事馆，现在是个旅游纪念品店，原日本领事馆，说是厦门大学的教授住着，原德国领事馆，现在是国际青年旅馆......鼓浪屿上的外国建筑，多是1930-1940年建造，很多现在废弃的，主人是华侨，移居台湾或海外。因为房屋所有权还属于他们，国家也不能完全收回改造。而且修旧如旧、维护费用也是大问题，毕竟不是一栋两栋房子。岛上现在也有很多正在施工的房屋，真希望能恢复当年的风貌和繁华，而不是一个只为旅游而生的景点。左一转、右一转，小桂居然带我们经过了中式瓦砾屋顶的房子，他说那个里面可是四合院建筑。没想到，这里还真是中西建筑荟萃呢。

其实，我们这位私人导游最令我们欣喜的，是带我们经过好多当地特色小吃。民以食为天，更遇上我们四个不忌口、以吃为追求的人。小桂带我们去的都是他们当地人自己吃的地方。早点的沙茶面，店面虽小味道不错。林记鱼丸汤，直接在自家院子里卖，鱼丸和春卷（也有叫薄饼）。黄金香（类似于肉铺肉松），门面就一平方米，两边挂着好几块老字号的牌子，还有银联的标识可以刷卡，老板很是干练，而且给人试吃极为大方。

鼓浪屿的导游费用其实不贵，陪同只要10元，也没有时间长短。我们好奇他们怎么谋生。小桂说他们是挂靠在宾馆、旅行社的，现在是淡季，所以自己接接客，旺季的时候就忙着带团了，鼓浪屿各条马路都布满了人呢。万幸，我们这会儿享受了宁静的鼓浪屿。我告诉小桂，我们的网站http://www.ourexplorer.com/很快就会全面推广，到时候，除了在路上问经过的人是否需要导游，他更可以利用网络的优势了。在渡口告别小桂，我们继续踏上厦门本岛之旅。
